Refried Bean Burritos-Beans Food Storage Recipes

Some people might be afraid to try the cannery’s dehydrated refried beans, but let me tell you that they are the most creamy, flavorful, delicious refried beans I’ve ever eaten. If you’re still skeptical, it may help to know that anytime you are eating out and thinking outside the bun you are eating reconstituted dehydrated beans. They are very easy to make and take about 10 minutes prep time (most of which is just covering the beans and letting them do their thing). Everybody I’ve served them to has no idea and comments on how creamy they are. We use ours alot as burritos.

Thanks for letting me know about your food storage blog. I am very excited to learn more about it. I am not very “food storage savvy”.

I just looked at my cannery supplies and I have some! We may be having this for dinner.

Crystal, I was told the refried beans from the cannery are the same ones they use at Taco Bell!

I guess that can be good or bad depending on your tastes! :)

  7. Thank you for everything Crystal. You are helping me help my “food storage challenged ward” to get a glimmer…Your videos are indispensable. You wouldn’t think someone would need a tutorial for blender pancakes, but we have a lot of ladies with who English is their second language and your videos are GREAT! I have to say that i LOVE the cannery’s refried flaked beans. They are a staple at our house; one of my teenagers just cooks them himself and eats them with tortillia chips and salsa. We use them for nachos, burritoes, for southwestern side dishes. i add the dehydrated onions and “fiesta” pinto bean seasoning (best EVER) and we love them! TexMex lovers with love ‘em!

You can buy dehydrated refried beans at your local cannery and then rehydrate them yourself at home by mixing equal amounts beans and boiling water and letting it sit 10 minutes. For thicker beans, use 1 heaping cup beans per 1 cup water as the 1:1 ratio is a little on the runny side for burritos.

Great! Here in Laredo, TX breakfast tacos are a way of life. There are so many kinds. They put diced potatoes, chorizo, bacon; almost any combination with the eggs. Of course to have them on the homemade flour tortillas is extremely hard to pass up. They also do the refried beans for breakfast too, I am having a little harder time adjusting to that. I have only lived here 1 1/2 yrs. so give me time it will probably happen. Thanks for all your ideas, recipes, how to videos. Love them.
