I finally tried the condensed soup today in my hawaiian haystacks. (My first time using Magic Mix. Yay!) I was impressed how easy it was. As I was tasting it and adding spices I noticed the butter taste was pretty strong, but once you serve it with all the fixings I couldn't tell it was in there. And it passed the "Hubby Test" which is a big indicator of how good it was. Thanks so much for sharing. I use a ton of recipes and ideas from your blog. (The tortillas are still my favorite.)

I wouldn't make the condensed soup too much ahead of time. I like that you
can make it as you need it. The magic mix lasts as long as butter lasts in
the fridge or freezer.

Hi, I just found your site--it's great! I was wondering, can you store this condensed soup in the fridge or freezer? And for how long until it goes bad? Same thing with the magic mix--how long before it goes bad in the fridge? Thanks!

Claudia,

In an emergency you don't want to start using all NEW recipes. Take the recipes you have now and interchange the fresh fruits and vegetables for those you have canned and dehydrated or freeze dried.

I finally have a can rotator. I remember a recipe book that used only canned foods, but I can't find it. Do you know where I can get receipes using a variety of canned goods so I continually rotate my supply? The recipes I use now are mostly fresh ingredients with one or two canned items. In a emergency, without use of fresh foods, I want recipes that use only canned items along with my dehydrated foods. Thank you in advance for help.

Wow! Great new website. I made Dawn B. recipe for chicken pot pie tonight and used this cream of chicken substitute. It was awesome! It tasted pretty close to real cream of chicken soup, except without that weird canned taste. This recipe has just opened up a whole array of food choices for us. Thanks! I do need to make more magic mix though since I only have about a half a cup left.
