Are you ready to Garden? The perfect way to grow food storage!

Just a friendly reminder that it’s time to start thinking about getting your garden going. I’ve been taking a class every Saturday to learn more about gardening in my area. Turns out gardening in Southern California and Utah are VERY different. Which would explain my sorry gardens for the past couple years. So…if you have gardens that you wish could be better, we’re all in the same boat!
The first year I planted a garden all I got to grow was one measly zucchini plant (well really…there is no such thing as as measly zucchini plant but you get my drift…). I was so disappointed that all my hard work only paid off in the form of zucchini. If this has happened to you….you’re not alone! And I don’t want you to give up! Now is the PERFECT time to practice growing a garden (theoretically BEFORE you NEED to grow one). Don’t worry, each year you’ll get a little better and learn more about how your backyard works for a garden, what plants you like to grow, which things your family will enjoy eating, and so forth. If you need more resources for growing a better garden, don’t worry I’ve got you covered. Here are some of my favorite places to go on reading up for gardening in ANY area!

Square Foot Gardening Book- This is a great basic book with pictures, instructions, and practical information for ANYONE to start a garden ANYWHERE (even on a rooftop!).

My Square Foot Garden Blog- This is a blog where you can see a square foot garden in ACTION! Plus, this year she is offering a newsletter that you can sign up for (according to your frost date) that will send you reminders of when you should be planting things. (Just in case you’re wondering, I’ve already signed up for mine…life gets busy and I need reminders

Food Storage Made Easy-Did you know that Jodi from Food Storage Made Easy is also a fellow square foot gardener? She just put up a great post about starting seeds in doors and will be sharing more! Since I won’t be sharing much of my gardening with you since I have big things planned for March that you won’t want to miss; make sure you keep tabs on Jodi this summer with her garden…who knows…maybe we can convince her to show us how she cans!
**Check back on Friday for the big announcement about what we’re going to be learning all during March! You won’t want to miss it! **
