I tried making the cinnamon chips. I also tripled the recipe and started out at 250F. My chips never melted or got bubbly. After a time of raising the temperature to see if they would melt I finally took them out of the oven. After a couple of minutes they hardened and I broke them up. I decided to go ahead and use them in the bread recipe. The bread was delicious but I should have used more chips.
Robyn

I found a recipe to make your own cinnamon chips or chunks It was easy to make and turned out great in the bread. My family loves it.
Heat oven to 200F.
( I did 250, because 200 didn’t melt it, maybe because I tripled the recipe)
Combine:
1/3 c granulated sugar
1 1/2 TB cinnamon
1 TB solid all-vegetable shortening
1 TB light corn syrup
Mix with fork until uniform and crumbly.
Spread on foil-lined baking sheet and bake until melted and bubbly, about 35 minutes.
Cool completely, then break into small pieces. ( about 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch, that way you get better pockets of cinnamon)
Makes 1 cup (approx)

I found cinnamon chips at Kitchen Kneads just yesterday. They sell them in bulk. They are located on Redwood Road and 7600 South. Right across the street from West Jordan Middle School. They are great chips. I can't wait to use them in this recipe.

I saw this recipe I haven't tried it but I am going to, let us know what you think if anyone tries it before I do!

Cinnamon Chips:
Heat oven to 200F. Combine:
1/3 c granulated sugar
1 1/2 TB cinnamon
1 TB solid all-vegetable shortening
1 TB light corn syrup
Mix with fork until uniform and crumbly.
Spread on foil-lined baking sheet and bake until melted and bubbly. 35 minutes.
Cool completely, then break into small pieces.
Makes 1 cup (approx)

I made this bread yeaterday. Since I didn't have cinnamon bites, or chips, I improvised. I just made the dough, then rolled out like I was making cinnamon rolls, put butter and cinna/sugar and rolled it up, tucked the ends inward and put in bread pans and let rise. It's absolutely delish.
