The best way to start using your long term food storage is to make a plan.  And like everything else, I’ve made it easy for you in my book, I Can’t Believe It’s Food Storage: A Simple Step-by-Step Plan for Using Food Storage to Create Delicious Meals. In this book, you’ll learn how to transition each food-storage item—one at a time—into your own recipes. Soon you’ll be using your food storage every day to make meals your family will actually eat! I’ll also show you how to put together a personalized three-month supply and how to enlist your family’s help with meal planning and preparation. And as you build your one-year supply, I’ll show you what to store, how much to store, and how to store it.

With I Can’t Believe It’s Food Storage, it’s not only possible but easy to reap the full benefits of food storage—benefits like saving money, eating healthier, never running out of anything, cooking meals faster, and most important, an invaluable preparation for emergencies. Your book sounds great!! We don’t have a Deseret Book out here in North Carolina but I’ll have to start hounding them so I can get a copy! Thanks for all your hard work and inspiration!

    :)

I was at Deseret Book tonight and did not see your book there. :( Maybe next month when I am down there they will have. I was hoping to get it.

I need a recomendation on a great wheat grinder your link isnt working… thank you

  • Donna

I have a 600 Watt blender that makes marvelous pancakes, and a good mixer. I also use the pasta maker, and I have a manual grain mill, and a small electric mill for batches under a cup. Here, where I live, I am also able to purchase soft wheat grown locally, which is great for pastries and pastas. I keep both. I have experimented with using the soft for bread by adding gluten, and had good results. I am so excited about trying some of your recipes. Here is a tip, too. I have an old dog who seemed to be losing his zest for life. I started sprouting wheat and adding it to both dogs’ food, and within a week, the older one was jumping around again, and we also noted that his halitosis was gone. If I don’t put them in, we can tell the difference within a week.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE order more of your fridge magnet conversion charts. I am so jealous of my sister-in-law who found your site months ago and has them. You have turned her into a food storage rock star!

I see you use a pasta maker. I bought a pasta maker a few years ago and used it once because it doesn’t have any instructions on how to sanitize it. I made egg noodles, so I was afraid to just run flour through it, which was what the instructions said to do to clean it. Please advise.

    Hi Crystal,

I just wanted to let you know that I bought your book about a week ago and loved it so much I bought a copy and shipped it to my mother-in-law as a gift. Your book is super insightful and gives a lot of great advice on food storage. I especially liked your quote about food storage being better than a savings account I read it to my husband and he also really liked it which is great because he’s been dragging his feet a bit about buying all the food storage. he even told me that we should get a chest freezer for frozen items in our 3 month supply. I was shocked and ecstatic. Thank you so much!!

  • Crystal-Everyday Food Storage

YEAH! I’m so happy you like it and that it’s working for you. Keep up the GREAT work!

    Hi Crystal,
I just received your book today and have enjoyed the reading so far. Thank you for putting together such a great book! It is very informative and the way you wrote it is like cooking with a friend! I just received my order (very first!) of powdered eggs and butter so I cannot wait to try them in a recipe! Again, thank you for your dedication to Food Storage!!

I enjoyed your plum jam video. Can you tell me where you found the jars and lids you used?  Those are my favorites, and I can’t find that type anywhere. Thanks.  Great video, isn’t plum jam the best?
